Little is known of the goldsmith Barbier. He apprenticed under Jean-Marie Villeclair beginning in 1747 but was sponsored by Charles Le Bastier when he became master on July 18, 1764. Barbier?s workshop was located on the rue Quincampoix, and he is last recorded as working in 1776.
