Jean-Baptiste Oudry Snuff Box

Jean-Baptiste Oudry Snuff Box
Gold, set with Sevres porcelain plaques depicting Les Chasses de Louis XV, after cartoons by Jean-Baptiste Oudry, c. 1745-8, for a series of Gobelins tapestries. No maker’s mark. Engraved on the rim, George AParis. Paris, 1756-62. The Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery, San Marino, California. Despite the similarities between this box and the preceding one the two are certainly the work of different craftsmen: one presumably George himself, the other a journeyman in his shop.
